FS2000 - CFS FW190a Finnish Air Force. This is a
repaint of the default CFS FW190a aircraft painted
in Desert Camouflage textures based on an original picture.
Aircraft markings belonged to the Finnish Air Force.
This download contains two skins, without Swastika and
with swastika as shown in the original picture included.
This aircraft is from CFS and tested in FS2000.
Uses Fw 190a Panel. It will fly equally well in CFS
and FS2000. All flight surfaces are moveable,
transparent cockpit, retractable landing gear.
Repaint by Bob Bongiovanni.

INSTALLATION FOR FS2000:

INSTALLATION: Unzip the file "fw190des.ZIP"into your "C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\FS2000\Aircraft" Folder. Your should end up with a folder named "Fw190a Finnish Desert". Under the folder "Fw190a Finnish Desert", you will have five folders:
GAUGES
MODEL
PANEL
SOUND
TEXTURE

Copy the the file "FW190a.gau" from the folder "GAUGES" shown above, to C:\Program files\Microsoft Games\FS2000\GAUGES. If you have already downloaded/copied the FW190a.gau" file, and installed it in FS2000, the gauges will already be there in the "GAUGES" folder. Explorer will let you know if it already exists. This Acft will use the default Fw190a Panel, which is already in the "PANEL" folder. When selecting this aircraft in FS2000 it will read "Fw 190A Finnish Desert". If you have any problems with this aircraft, e-mail me at the address below.

INSTALLATION FOR CFS:

INSTALLATION: Unzip the file "fw190des.ZIP"into your "C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Combat Flight Simulator\Aircraft" Folder. Your should end up with a folder named "Fw190a Finnish Desert". Under the folder "Fw190 Finnish Desert", you will have five folders:
GAUGES
MODEL
PANEL
SOUND
TEXTURE

You can ignore the file "gauges", as the gauge "FW190a.gau" will already be in the CFS "GAUGES" folder. This Acft will use the default Fw190a Panel. You must copy all of the sound files in the default "Fw190a" sound Folder into the "SOUND" folder of your new aircraft "Fw190 Finnish Desert". It will tell you that "SOUND.CFG" already exists, do you want to overwrite it. Select "YES" and copy over the "SOUND.CFG" file. When selecting this aircraft in Combat Flight Simulator it will read "Fw 190A Finnish Desert". If you have any problems with this aircraft, e-mail me at the address below.

SWASTIKA TEXTURE INCLUDED
NOTE: If you are offended by the Swastika, please delete all files immediately with the word "swastika" in them. Finnish aircraft historically flew with the swastika on the wings and side. See information below on the "Finnish Swastika" below.

FOR SWASTIKA TEXTURE:
When you download the aircraft and fly it for the first time in FS200, it will not have the swastika on the tail. Included is an extra file "fw190_s_swastika.bmp" and "Fw190_w_swastika.bmp in the textures folder. To use this texture, rename the current file fw190_s.bmp and fw190_w.bmp to something like "fw190_s.bak" and fw190_w.bak. Then rename the file "fw190_s_Swastika.bmp" and fw190_w_swastika.bmp to "fw190_s.bmp and fw190_w.bmp. The next time that the aircraft is selected in FS2000/CFS it will have the Swastika on the tail and wings as depicted in the original picture. I have done this so that no one will be offended by the Swastika on the download. Actual aircraft flew with Swastika painted on the tail and wings (see file fw190 Original Picture.jpg). Note: Due to the limitations of the Microsoft Template for the Fw190, the Swastika's on one side will be backwards. If you can figure out how to correct this problem, please e-mail me with the solution.

THE FINNISH SWASTIKA was not connected with the German Swastika. The Finnish flew the swastika on their aircraft before the Germans adopted the swastika. The swastika is an old symbol from the baltic region. Finnish army used it 1918-1945 in their tanks and airplanes. So it was used before Hitler took it as a symbol of his ideas. Swedish baron von Rosen gave finnish army's first airplane and it had his symbols of luck -- blue swastika -- painted to both wings. Finns liked the logo and started to use it. (Information taken from Finnish Air Force and other WWII historic sites).

The aircraft uses the default Fw190 panel but you can download several nice panels for the Fw190 aircraft (see file "redwul1_panel.jpg") from the Internet at http://www.redwulf.de for download and panel options. Their panel contains many additional options that the default panel does not have. (http://www.redwulf.de)
